Offizielle Kursbeschreibung: This ERASMUS+ Blended Intensive Program (BIP) is a joint seminar organized by the Universities of Leipzig, Leuven, and Vienna, with student and staff participants from all three institutions. The first event of its kind in musicology across countries participating in the ERASMUS+ scheme, it will take place 10–16 April 2023 in Leipzig, complemented by online sessions before and after. It is available for BA students in their third year as well as MA students. The course will introduce students to contemporary topics of music aesthetics, with a focus on music performance, virtuosity, and listening culture, intermedial intersections between music and other arts as well as questions of gender and sexuality. It includes a varied program of concerts, guided tours, and social activities, offering students the opportunity to explore the rich cultural heritage of the “music city” Leipzig. Framed by a period of online teaching, the course's core are five days of in-person teaching in Leipzig with lectures, reading groups, student presentations, and discussions addressing issues of performativity, corporeality, music philosophy, intermediality, situated listening, and global aesthetics. 20 pre-selected students and staff members from Leuven and Vienna will join their colleagues in Leipzig, also engaging in social activities, performance visits, and other events during their stay in mid-April.
