Offizielle Kursbeschreibung:
Die Übung führt in das Akkadische (Babylonisch-Assyrische), die nach chronologischer und geographischer Verbreitung sowie Umfang des Schrifttums wichtigste Sprache des Alten Orients und zugleich die älteste belegte semitische Sprache ist, ein. Zugrunde gelegt wird dabei die altbabylonische Sprachstufe, in der u. a. der Kodex Hammurapi, einer der ältesten Gesetzestexte der Menschheit, abgefasst ist. Weiterer Gegenstand der Lehrveranstaltung ist die Keilschrift.
