Offizielle Kursbeschreibung: Teilnehmerkreis: Studierende ab dem 2. Semester Vorkenntnisse: keine Inhalt: This course aims to provide students with an overview of the U.S. legal system using an American-style educational approach. The course will introduce the common law system and the case-based approach to legal studies. Students will learn of major legal developments through studying lines of cases. Students will also experience the American-style approach to legal education. Active participation is necessary for the students to learn to “think like an American lawyer” and to develop their legal English. The topics of the course include the common law system, constitutional law, civil procedure and private law, criminal law and criminal procedure. Englischkenntnisse(B2) sind notwendig. C1 oder höher ist von Vorteil. Es kann ein englischer Sprachschein (bei Teilnahme an der Veranstaltung sowie Bestehen einer Prüfungsleistung) erworben werden.
