Offizielle Kursbeschreibung:
Following the more theory based winter school, during this summer school we want to move from theory to practice and actively explore the alternatives to and within our current economic system through practical examples, engagement, and self-reflection. We will do this in three ways: via visiting and engaging with different examples of economic activities at different scales (e.g. economies of small and large scale, artisanal and profit orientation, paid and unpaid labour); via living and participating in a community economy and studying the different components that contribute to its ‘making a living’ (e.g., resiliency practices such as foraging, storing, DIY, but also migration and local revitalization strategies); and through the active reflection of our own activities, which we create as part of our summer school. Key aspects of the summer school would be field trips to a small scale artisanal wine producer and a home made wine production; a small scale family cheese making operation and a small scale industrial cheese factory; or examples of family run olive productions. We will also talk to local people about their house-holding, cooperation, sharing, and gifting practices.

Organisatorisches:
Ideally, the summer school will take part for roughly 2 weeks in the region of Molise, Italy, in September 2021 (subject to COVID 19 travel restrictions). The summer school is open for BA and MA levels and students can get 5 or 10 credits.
