Offizielle Kursbeschreibung: As a complement to the seminar on Postcolonial debates, the course will approach the development of postcolonial practice from independence onwards up to recent controversies, focusing mainly on case studies relevant to Swahili communities inside and outside East Africa, discussed through various perspectives. The course aims at capturing and disclosing the debates through which east-African societies have been displayed their daily involvement, acknowledgment and creative reflections on crucial issues, challenges and aims. Besides the learning outcomes to be achieved in the complementary course, the students will develop further specific skills related to the language knowledge, which involve undertaking and presenting scholarly work in Swahili, making use of a variety of resources in Swahili and constructing personal academic argumentation in Swahili. Students are expected to work exclusively in Kiswahili.
