Offizielle Kursbeschreibung: This lecture will introduce students to Jewish interpretations of the Bible beginning from the 19th century to the present, especially in Europe and North America. We will examine the work of particular scholars (e.g., Arnold Ehrlich, Benno Jacob, Umberto Cassuto, Tikva Frymer-Kensky, Jon D. Levenson, Adele Berlin). Particular attention will be paid to interpretations of key biblical texts, such as Gen 1–11; Gen 22; Exod 1–15; Jonah 1–4.
