Offizielle Kursbeschreibung: Seminar 2 (“Tradition and Change of Chinese Religions in the Modern Age: The Fate of Chi-nese Popular Religion in the 20th and 21st Centuries”) will focus on ethnographic research in “cultural China,” with special emphasis on Taiwan. The focus of methodological reflection is accordingly on ethnographic working methods and ethnological theory formation. N.B.: The first three sessions of both seminars (14th, 21st, 28.4.) form a unit and lay the theoretical and methodological foundations for both seminars. Students who only want to attend one of the two seminars (e.g., doctoral or master’s students) should therefore still at-tend both seminars for at least the first three sessions.
Organisatorisches: Target Audience The module is intended primarily for students enrolled in the MA programme in Chinese Studies, but it is also open to other interested students, in particular the following two groups: 1) MA and doctoral students of other disciplines: If desired, only one of the two semi-nars can be attended, but in this case no credit points can be earned. 2) Students in the Global Studies MA programme: Either seminar component can be cho-sen as part of the module “Regions in Globalization Processes: Asia and Middle East” (06-008-GS-0830).
